Play along with polymer to make beautiful butterfly wing beads and domed bezel pendants with a painterly touch - no painting skills needed! Discover the easiest and safest way to etch copper sheets to make unique jewelry compoments like the butterfly wing charms in these projects. Create etched pendants using feathers! Whip up silk ribbon beads that are quite addicting, you'll want to add them into your jewelry for a pop of color and texture. Finish your workshop with a  session sharing step-by-step tutorials to make all the jewelry shown.

This workshop is published and you can follow along at your own schedule and pace.


What to Expect from an Online Workshop:

This class is open to all skill levels.

All class content will be available in a private classroom. In the classroom you'll have access to written PDF tutorials with step-by-step photos and video tutorials that will help you feel like you are in the classroom with me.  There is also an optional private Facebook group for this class to ask questions and share your progressYou'll have lifetime access to the classroom and Facebook group. You’ll receive a password to access the inspiring private classroom and video content. 

Fluttering Wings  

Day 1:

Fluttering Butterfly Wing Polymer Clay Beads - learn to make a beautiful butterfly cane and a collection of beads. This design is deceptively simple and even a polymer novice will feel like a pro by the end of class! 

Butterfly Bezels - we’ll learn to make your own bezels from metal blanks and how to create a painterly butterfly pendant.

Day 2:

Super Easy Copper Etching - with a few simple tools learn a fun metal etching methods that doesn’t use harmful chemicals! We’ll create butterfly wing charms and feather components for our jewelry. I’ll show you how to finish your copper pieces using a few of my favorite metal-working techniques.

Day 3: 

In a series of short videos I’ll show you how to create all the jewelry shown. I’ll show you how to make your own earwires and butterfly wing pendant. We’ll cover creating silk ribbon beads and another easy earwires for the feather pendant and earrings. Our final project will be the hammered links to create your own chain for the butterfly bezel necklace.

Bonus:

I recorded a video with a few bonus jewelry projects!

Required Polymer Clay Tools:

Pasta Machine

Tissue Blade 

Work surface - glass, ceramic or cardstock will work

Acrylic rod

Oven and dedicated baking sheet for polymer clay

Required Jewelry Tools:

Chain and round nose pliers

Xuron heavy duty wire cutters

Steel bench block and ball peen hammer

Woodend dapping block with punch with plastic or rawhide hammer

Flat metal file

Misc. Supplies:

Butterfly rubber stamps and craft feathers

Stayz-On black ink pad

1 quart mason jar 

Double battery holder C with alligator clips and two NEW c batteries* 

Extended Life Liver of Sulphur Gel 

Sharpie marker, packing tape, ruler

Renisance wax*

*battery holder and wax are included in the kit.


Class Requirements:

You'll need access to the internet, Adobe Reader (it's free here) to access the classroom materials. A Facebook account is required to join the the optional Facebook group. A camera is also optional if you'd like to take photos of your projects for feedback or questions.
