Bead Soup Mix Challenge

Monday, June 22, 2015

I don't know why, maybe I'm feeling whimsical or maybe it's because my bead stash is currently in a crazy jumble but I have had bead soup on the brain all weekend. I have a design floating around in my head but time is short this week. (How does that happen on Monday!)

So let's play together. Create a bead soup piece of jewelry with at least one Humblebead in the mix.

  • Post a comment below with a link to your creation by Friday.
  • On Saturday I will draw a winner for a $50 gift certificate from Humblebeads.
  • Link can be from your shop, blog, Facebook page, Instragram, Pinterest but it has to be a new creation and it has to your link.
  • Make sure you leave an email if it's not in your profile.

Grab those beads and let's create!!!

Here is a great blog post I wrote last year for my Mojo Challenge will all sorts of tips for creating a bead soup piece of jewelry.

And if you have a copy on your shelf pull out the Bead Soup book by my friend Lori Anderson. It's awesome and deserves a re-read. In fact I'm going to pull out my copy to read over again this week. (That's an Amazon affiliate link above.)

Bead soup challenge

I would love to play along, unfortunately I don't have any Humble Beads in my stash. Too short notice to order them.

Hi Kelly - don't let that

Hi Kelly - don't let that stop you, please play along. You won't be qualified for the drawing because I'm offering this a perk to my customers but you can play and share your work!!!

Super inspiring and highly

Super inspiring and highly liberating concept, thank you!
Here's my "bead soup"-based, sea-inspired bracelet made of Czech glass beads, quartz rock crystals, lampwork bead, freshwater baroque pearls, silver findings, as well as an urchin bead and a starfish charm by Humblebeads:

I love this challenge, but it is super intimidating to me! I've never shared my work before, but I am also very new to jewelry making. I love birds and anything to do with birds. Here is my bead soup creation. Kylie Parry bird, Humble Beads nest, small Amazonite bead, turquoise Czech glass beads, leather, and antique copper findings and chain.

Bead Soup Contest

Hi: I really need to learn all about taking pictures. Anyway here is my project, it is 25" necklace.
Hope this works!

Bead Soup Challenge

Had this starfish focal in my stash for a LONG time! Figured this was a good way to use it, along with some orphan Czech beads and a recycled glass bead I had hanging around.

Bead Soup Challenge Piece

Of course my camera battery decided to die on me right as I was snapping photos. Had to take pics with my hubby's camera phone, so the colors are a little wonky. Sorry about that. :( Here is a necklace design using your pretty nesting doll beads. I added some freshwater pearls, turquoise nuggets, ceramic beads, seed beads, vintage heart charms and sari ribbon. Here is a link to the photo on Pinterest:

Bead Soup

I love this challenge, it encouraged me to look at some beads left from other projects and that I love but have had no thoughts about what to do with them. With your little push I combined some things I had never considered putting together. Thanks for the inspiration!! Sorry to say, I don't know how to post the picture to you : (

Hi Anna - I would love to see

Hi Anna - I would love to see what you made and will add it to the gallery. Email me your photo to

Bead Soup

Thank you Heather, I sent it today.

Heather's Feathers

I have been hoarding, um...saving these awesome Humblebeads feathers for just the right time. I paired them with some of my own purple polymer discs and czech glass for a fun earring design using teal cord. You can view them here:
